Electrical Panel Upgrades for Dalworthington Gardens Homes

An aging or undersized breaker panel limits what you can add and wears faster under heavy load. We replace it with equipment sized to what your home really draws, and the same small crew carries the job from first look to a labeled, inspected panel.

Knowing When a Panel Needs Replacing

In a panel upgrade, we swap out the breaker box that feeds every circuit in your home, and often raise the service capacity from the utility as well, so modern demand runs without strain. Central air, an electric range, a pool pump or an EV charger each put steady load on the system, and a long Texas summer keeps the AC going much of the day.

A breaker that trips does not always point to a new panel. The real cause can be one overloaded circuit or a loose connection, where a repair or a torque and clean makes more sense. We check first and tell you straight which fix suits your home.

We keep our crew small by choice. The electrician who opens your panel at the first visit plans the work, does it on install day and shows you the finished panel. No one hands your job to someone new partway through.

What the Work Covers

Sizing the load

Before choosing equipment, we total the draw of your appliances, cooling system and anything on your wish list. That figure decides the panel size, so you are neither sold extra capacity nor left short.

New panel and breakers

We install a new panel with fresh breakers matched to each circuit's wire size. Old breakers are not reused in new equipment.

Grounding and bonding

We check and correct the grounding electrode connections and bonding so the new panel meets current code.

Permit and inspection

We file for the permit and book the inspection as the local jurisdiction requires. If the utility needs to cut and restore power at the meter, we arrange that with them and keep you informed.

Clear circuit labeling

Every breaker is labeled by room and use in plain writing. When you need to shut something off later, you will know which switch to flip.

Tidy finish

Wires are dressed neatly inside the panel, the cover fits flush, and any wall or siding we disturbed is patched closed and left clean.

Warning Signs Your Panel Has Reached Its Limit

  • Trips during everyday use

When the dryer and microwave cannot run together without the power cutting out, something is overloaded, either one circuit or the whole panel. We find out which before recommending anything.

  • Warm cover or a burning smell

Heat at the panel cover, discoloration or a faint hot-plastic odor points to failing connections. Shut off nonessential loads and schedule an inspection within the next few days.

  • No room for new circuits

A panel packed with tandem breakers and no open slots cannot take an EV charger, a generator connection or a remodel without changes.

  • Dimming lights when the AC starts

A noticeable flicker when the compressor kicks on can mean the service is undersized for your cooling load.

  • Rust, corrosion or an outdated panel

Moisture inside an outdoor panel, or a brand with a known history of breaker problems, is reason enough to plan a replacement.

How Your Panel Upgrade Runs

  1. 1

    Assessment visit

We open the panel, test connections, look at the meter base and service entrance, and talk through what you run now and plan to add. You get a written estimate that lists each part of the work.

  2. 2

    Paperwork and a date

After you sign off on the estimate, we handle the permit application and choose an install day with you. When the utility has to cut service, we coordinate that timing and tell you exactly when the house will be without power.

  3. 3

    Install day

Power goes off, the old panel comes out, and the new one goes in with each circuit landed and torqued to spec. Most homes have power back the same day, and we let you know at the start how long yours should take.

  4. 4

    Inspection and walkthrough

We meet the inspector, make any notes right away and then show you the labeled panel, the main shutoff and anything worth knowing about your new setup.

What Moves the Cost of a Panel Upgrade

Panel prices vary more than most people expect, because the box itself is only part of the job. We price after we have seen your service, and the written estimate shows each line so you can see where the money goes. If something unexpected turns up behind the panel, we show you before any extra work starts.

Panel size and amperage
Moving to a higher amperage often means a new meter base and service conductors, not just a larger box.
Panel location and access
A panel in a finished wall, a tight garage corner or an exterior wall with stucco or brick takes more time to remove and patch.
Condition of existing wiring
Aluminum branch wiring, brittle insulation or undersized circuits may need correction before they can be landed in new equipment.
Grounding updates
Missing or corroded ground rods and bonding add parts and labor.
Permit and utility requirements
Permit fees and any utility work to disconnect and reconnect the service are part of the total.

Common Questions About Panel Upgrades

Something not covered here? (682) 327-0474

How much time does replacing a panel take?

A typical replacement fills one working day, and the power is off for some of it. If the job adds a new meter base or service line, it can stretch longer, largely because of the utility's schedule. At the assessment we give you a realistic window to plan around.

Will you take care of the permit?

We will. We file it and set up the inspection the local jurisdiction calls for, then meet the inspector on site, so that piece is off your plate.

Who handles the installation?

Licensed and insured electricians do the work, and every panel job falls under our Master Electrical License. Our crew is small, so whoever assesses your panel is also there on install day.

Does adding an EV charger mean replacing my panel?

It comes down to how much power your home already uses. We start with a load calculation on your current service. With enough room to spare, we go ahead with EV charger installation. Without it, we explain the options, such as a panel upgrade or a load management device that splits the capacity you have.

Is the panel work covered after installation?

It is. Each panel upgrade comes with our 1-year workmanship warranty. If a connection or anything else we installed causes a problem in that first year, we return and fix our work.
