Lighting Installation in Dalworthington Gardens
We install recessed, pendant, under-cabinet and exterior lighting with the same small crew from first layout to final trim. Fixtures go in level, boxes are rated for the weight they carry, and ceilings are patched and wiped clean before we leave.
Light That Fits the Room and Is Wired to Last
Good lighting starts with placement. A recessed light set too close to a wall throws a hard scallop across the paint, and a pendant hung a few inches too low becomes something you duck around. We spend time on the layout with you first, marking positions on the ceiling so you can see the spacing before anything is cut.
The wiring behind the fixture matters just as much as the fixture itself. We confirm the circuit can carry the new load, use boxes rated for fans and heavy fixtures, and choose LED housings and dimmers that are made to work together. The work is carried out under our Master Electrical License.
Lighting installation is the right call when a room feels dim, when you are replacing dated fixtures, or when you want light where none exists today, like over a kitchen island or along a dark side yard. If your project is part of a larger change, our remodel and addition wiring page covers that work.
What Our Lighting Work Covers
Recessed lighting in finished ceilings
We fish new wire through existing ceilings with small, careful openings rather than tearing out drywall. In attics that run hot through a Texas summer, we use IC-rated, airtight housings that can sit against insulation safely.
Chandeliers, pendants and ceiling fans
Heavy fixtures and fans get a properly braced, rated box, not a plastic box meant for a light bulb. We set height and center the canopy so it reads straight from the doorway.
Lighting under cabinets and shelves
Slim LED tape or small round fixtures go beneath upper cabinets to light the counter evenly. The power supply sits where you will not see it, and the wire is concealed behind the cabinet face frames.
Exterior and security lighting
Porch, garage and floodlights are installed with weather-rated boxes, sealed covers and fixtures suited to wet locations. Motion sensors and photocells can be added.
Low-voltage landscape lighting
Path and accent lights run from a properly mounted transformer on a dedicated outdoor receptacle, with cable buried to a sensible depth.
Switching and dimmers
New switch locations, three-way control and LED-compatible dimmers so lights fade smoothly without buzzing or flicker.
Signs It Is Time for New Lighting
Lamps doing the ceiling's job
If every room depends on floor and table lamps, the overhead lighting was never planned for how you use the space.
Flicker or hum after switching to LED
Older dimmers were built for incandescent bulbs. Pairing them with LEDs often causes flicker, buzzing or lights that never fully turn off.
A heavy fixture on a light-duty box
A fan that wobbles or a chandelier that sags points to a box that was not rated for the weight. That is worth correcting before it gets worse.
Old can lights that run hot
Discolored trim, a burning smell or bulbs that keep failing in older recessed housings can mean heat is building up where it should not.
Outdoor fixtures failing early
Rust, cracked lenses or water inside a fixture usually means it was not rated for its location or the box was not sealed.
How a Lighting Job Runs
- 1
Walkthrough and layout
We look at the rooms with you, check the panel and existing circuits, and mark fixture positions. You get a written scope before we schedule the work.
- 2
Protecting your home
Floors are covered, furniture is moved or draped, and we set up drop cloths under every opening. Ceiling cuts are made with a guide to keep edges clean.
- 3
Wiring and mounting
The same crew that did the layout runs the wire, sets the boxes and hangs the fixtures. Permits and inspections are handled as required by the local jurisdiction.
- 4
Testing, trim and cleanup
We test every fixture, switch and dimmer, adjust trims so they sit flush, and vacuum the dust. Before we leave, we show you the new switches and how the dimmers are set.
What Shapes the Cost of Lighting Installation
The fixture count is only part of the price. Most of the difference comes from what sits behind the ceiling and how far the wire has to travel. We walk through these points on the visit and put them in writing.
- Ceiling access
- A single-story room with open attic above is quicker to wire than a first-floor ceiling under a finished second floor, where every run has to be fished between joists.
- Existing circuits or new ones
- Adding a few lights to a lightly loaded circuit is simple. A large set of new fixtures, or a circuit already near its limit, may need a new run from the panel.
- Fixture type and height
- Heavy chandeliers, tall foyer ceilings and fans needing braced boxes take more time and equipment than standard flush mounts.
- Outdoor runs
- Exterior lighting that needs trenching, conduit or a new outdoor receptacle adds labor and material compared with replacing an existing porch light.
- Permits and patching
- Permit requirements vary with the scope. Drywall patching around openings is quoted up front so it does not appear as a surprise.
Lighting Installation Questions

Can you add recessed lights without opening up the whole ceiling?
In most homes, yes. We cut only the fixture holes plus an occasional small access opening, then fish the wire between joists. Where an access hole is needed, we tell you before cutting and patch it afterward.
Should I buy the fixtures or will you supply them?
Either works. If you have fixtures picked out, we check that they suit the location and the box. If you would rather we supply them, we can recommend LED housings and trims we know install cleanly and dim well.
Will my new LED lights work with my existing dimmers?
Often they will not, at least not smoothly. We match each dimmer to the fixtures it controls and test the full range so lights fade evenly without flicker or hum.
Who will actually be working in my home?
Our own small crew, the same people from the layout visit through cleanup. They are licensed and insured electricians, and you will see familiar faces each day the job runs.
How much time should I set aside for the installation?
Replacing two or three existing fixtures on wiring that is already in place often fits into a morning or an afternoon. A full room of new recessed lights with added switch locations tends to run one to two days, and the main variable is how easily we can reach the ceiling from above. The planned schedule is written into your scope, so you know it before we begin.
Is the work covered after you leave?
Yes. Our lighting installations come with a 1-year workmanship warranty. Should a fixture, switch or dimmer we put in stop behaving as it should, give us a call and the crew who installed it comes back to sort it out.
